Summary:
On March 23, 2021, two (2) bids were received and opened for the above referenced project. The bids ranged from $1,430,401.15 to $1,634,999.99 with the Engineer’s Estimate at $1,423,983.50. Superior Bowen Asphalt Company, LLC submitted the low and responsible bid in the amount of $1,430,401.15. The following is a tabulation of the bids received:

This Street Preservation project will provide a 2” mill and asphalt overlay on Old 56 Highway from Lone Elm Road to 151st Street. This project will also include shoulder improvements, ADA ramp installation at the Robinson Drive intersection, traffic signal detection improvements, and pavement markings. Additionally, work will occur connecting Old 56 Highway to the City of Olathe Parks and Recreation maintenance facility with an asphalt entrance road including concrete curb and gutter installation, streetlights, and widening on Old 56 Highway to accommodate turn lanes.
Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin in Spring 2021 and tentatively scheduled to be completed in Fall 2021.

Financial Impact:
This project is funded from the City of Olathe’s 2020 Street Preservation Program authorized on January 7, 2020. Authorized revenue for the 2020 Street Preservation Program includes:
CIP Fund Cash $ 2,200,000
CPR Fund Cash $ 800,000
G.O. Bonds $ 1,000,000
Street Maintenance Sales Tax $ 9,000,000
Street Maintenance Sales Tax $ 600,000
Total $ 13,600,000
