Summary:
This project is needed to address safety and capacity concerns in the area. The project will improve Quivira Road from 143rd Street to 151st Street from a 2-lane unimproved roadway to a 2-lane divided arterial section with turn lanes. Improvements will include pavement construction, curb and gutter, medians, streetlights, sidewalk and sidepath, bike lanes and storm sewers.
The estimated cost for this project is $17,429,000 including preliminary and final design, utility relocations, staff time, land acquisition, permitting, construction and inspection.
This project is tentatively scheduled for design in 2024/2025, land acquisition and utility relocations in 2025, and construction in 2026.

Funding for the Quivira Road, 143rd to 151st, Improvements Project, as approved in the 2024-2028 Capital Improvement Plan, includes:
GO Bonds $13,853,091
Federal (STBG) $ 3,575,909

No action is requested at this time. Staff will return to Council on January 23, 2024, to request approval for authorization of the project.
